Walks around Cesky Krumlov

hiking in Czech republic

The area around Cesky Krumlov is great for walking. There are lots of well-marked footpaths and beautiful countryside to see.

Guided Walks

There are a number of guides offering guided walks around the town, or you  can hire an audioguide at the Cesky Krumlov Tourist Information Centre  in the Town Square.

We have a special 5-day walking tour in September which includes four guided walks combined with visits to fascinating historical and nature sites. For more information visit our Czech Tours website .

Walking on Your Own

If you want to explore on your own, buy one of the excellent walkers maps  from the Tourist Information Centre shop. The best footpaths to follow are those that are colour-coded. See photograph below for an example of  the signs.

Along the footpaths you will also find colour markers on trees and gates etc in this case blue. It’s that easy!

There are a number of trails with information boards such as the Stifter  trail at Horni Plana, the historical trail from Holubov to Divci Kamen  and Trisov and the trail along the Schwarzenberg Canal.

Walking is of course the perfect way to see Czech flora and fauna, of which  there are lots around Cesky Krumlov. We recommend the Sumava and Blansky Les AONB for both.

When walking in the Czech countryside be aware of the danger of biting  insects especially ticks. As in the UK ticks can bear diseases, so use  an insect repellant, wear long light trousers tucked into your socks and stick to the paths.

Walking Holidays

Holidays in the area specifically dedicated to walking are best based somewhere else than Cesky Krumlov. For more information visit out czechholiday website Or get in touch with us on admin@czechtours.co.uk
